Dr. Angela Dwamena-Aboagye, a Ghanaian lawyer, consultant and Executive Director of The Ark Foundation, Ghana, has called for stronger institutional commitment, capacity building and leadership development to ensure the successful implementation of the Ghana Immigration Service’s GBV-PSEAH response system.

She made the call at the GIS bi-annual coordinating meeting for GBV-PSEAH focal persons in Accra, held in partnership with UNFPA Ghana under the theme, “Strengthening GBV-PSEAH awareness, reporting and accountability.”

Dr. Dwamena-Aboagye also stressed the importance of a survivor-centred approach that gives complainants access to safe options, including mediation, internal processes and external reporting, in line with their preferences.

Notable participants included DCOI Scholistica Esuah Mensah Head of the Quota Section and Gender Focal Person at GIS Headquarters; Chief Supt. Evelyn Danquah, Head of the Gender Mainstreaming Department; Ms. Naana Frimpong, a gender advocate and consultant and Supt.Frank Kwaku Kumi, an AHSTIP officer.
