OTI REGION

The Kete-Krachi Sector Command of the Ghana Immigration Service was operationalized in November, 2022. The Command was created to complement security and to perform all Immigration functions in the various communities in Krachi West Municipal (Kete-Krachi) and Krachi-Nchumuru (Chinderi) District in Oti Region. Krachi West and Krachi-Nchumuru are Peninsulas of the Volta lake. Below is the map of Oti Region. ASI Asare Ezekiel Ohene is serving as the Ag. Sector Commander.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF THE SECTOR COMMAND

Designated functions of the Kete-Krachi Command are as follows:

1. Intelligence Gathering- Officers are deployed to the Pontoon/Boats loading sites and the market on market days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in collaboration with other security services such as the Navy, NIB and Police to gather intel.
2. Enforcement- Hotel Inspections are carried out periodically or upon intel.
3. Patrols- There are about 72 Islands in Krachi West, during the dry season some are accessible by land for patrols. Again, In the absence of a Vehicle, patrols are carried out periodically with motorbikes too far away communities where a mixture of Fulani heardsmen and other Ecowas nationals reside.
4. Meetings- Attending MUSEC and Stakeholder meetings.
5. Collaborations with other NGO’s such as PACODEP in combatting and rescuing children involved in child trafficking and child labor especially underage children on the Volta lake used for fishing. The children are a mixture of Ghanaian and foreign Nationals.
6. Performing all administrative works of the Command.
